Data Science Institute Introduces Voices Forum

Jeannette Wing

“Voices” is a new forum where members of Columbia’s Data Science Institute (DSI) publish their views and perspectives on data science.

The initiative, launched by Jeannette Wing, Avanessians Director of the DSI and Professor of Computer Science, will share data commentary and analysis from the Institute’s over 250-affiliated faculty working in a wide range of disciplines to advance techniques to gather and interpret data, and address the urgent problems facing society.

Chris Wiggins, Associate Professor of Applied Mathematics and Chief Data Scientist at The New York Times, is the Senior Columnist for “Voices.” Wiggins authored the first post in the series: “Ethics, Data, and Product.”
